The semifinal match

Following the exciting win over the 3rd seed Greens Farms, the Mustangs postponed their vacation plans to travel yet again to Williston Northampton where we played Concord Academy, the tournament's 2nd seed. Resolved not to take our time to get things going, Bouda opened the scoring in the fourth minute of play, having been sent down the left flank on a beautiful pass from Seaver.  Needless-to-say, Concord was surprised and shocked to find themselves trailing the sixth seed. They pulled themselves together, used their size and speed well and evened the score 15 minutes later. The remainder of the half was fairly even, as we tried to find a way around the Chameleons' towering centerbacks. At this point, the match has all the markings of the game against Greens Farms earlier in the week. It looked like it, too, would go down to the wire.

We took the field after the break determined to regain control. Again, Bouda opened the scoring with his second of the match, converting a nifty pass from Moir. At this point, Millbrook took control of the match. We possessed the ball smartly, used time and space to our advantage and kept Concord off-balance. Concord did not back off, however, and the new back four continued to play well together. When Colman was forced to leave the match with an injury, Seaver dropped into the middle to shore up our shape there. With 15 minutes to play, Moir sent Bouda in alone to put the game out of Concord's reach. This win was particularly satisfying, as we played good thinking soccer and proved ourselves against a worthy, able opponent.
