Mustangs Top Gunnery 14-4

The Millbrook Varsity Softball team extended its winning streak to five with a 14-4 victory over Class C rival Gunnery. The Mustangs came out firing, putting up nine runs in the bottom half of the first. Riley Croghan '18 had two hits, two runs, and an RBI in the inning (she finished 4-for-5 on the day), while Maya Holmes '17 had a big 2-RBI single of her own. Jessie Foote '18 also brought in a run with a bases-loaded walk. Every Millbrook batter scored at least once in the game, and the Mustangs were really heads-up on the basepaths all day. Millbrook also made some solid plays in the field, especially a line drive grab in center by Aria Bowden '18 and a nice catch on a towering pop-up at third by Emma Gotthelf '19. Croghan earned the complete-game win, allowing no earned runs and striking out ten. It will be a quick turnaround for the Mustangs, who will travel to Berkshire on Monday.
