A Campus Location Convenient for Exploration: Six Destinations in One Day of Experiential Learning

Over 80 Millbrook students studying the arts will travel to six destinations in one day of experiential learning on April 13th.

Students with artistic passions across all disciplines will engage with art in hands-on ways throughout the day, with the Museum of Modern Art, Bethel Woods, Vassar College, Paul Chaleff's pottery studio, and Central Park all on the agenda.

At the Museum of Modern Art students will study examples of abstraction and modernism from the museum's permanent collection. Choreography students will simutaneously create a site-specific work in Central Park that will be documented by Pedestrian Wanderlust, which is a New York City based organization that documents dance in non-traditional spaces.

Students participating in our Legal Issues in Contemporary Art course will visit galleries in Chelsea, as well as meet with industry professionals to discuss the challenges faced by auction houses, such as determining authenticity and value.

Meanwhile, students studying art history and instrumental ensemble will travel to Bethel Woods, a museum and concert venue located at the site of the 1969 Woodstock Festival, as part of their study of the music and cultures of the 1960s.

Millbrook students will also be welcomed to professional ceramicist and sculptor Paul Chaleff's studio for a hands-on workshop; and students participating in performance portfolio will visit with the drama department at Vassar College.

We are excited for our students upcoming experiential learning advenures. Be sure to follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for real-time updates throughout their journeys.
