5th place at Nationals!

The final day of the tournament was in jeopardy due to a major snowstorm but the team was ready to hunker down. Coached by Will Casertano, the Brunswick boys were looking to repeat a victory of 4-3 back in December at Millbrook. Rjay came out strong and won the first two games but his opponent started to play great squash and kept the ball in play. A few unforced errors later, Rjay lost the next three, 7,9 and 9, losing in 5.  Sam was once again down 2-1, but as seems to be his way, came back and won in 5 games to even the team match. Zack won his match at #1, 5,8 and 5, while Dylan posted a 3-1 loss at #6. Isaiah won his match in 3 and although Teddy lost the 3rd game, turned in a 3-1 victory at #5 which gave the Mustangs the team win. Henry still played his match although the draw outcome had already been decided, and was glad he did. After losing the first two games, he started scoring on low drives from the front court and turned the match around, playing the best match of his season, winning in 5, and giving his team the 5-2 victory.
The Mustangs were now in the finals of the consolations scheduled for 2pm. Unfortunately, our opposing team from Patomac decided to beat the weather and head home, giving our team the conso win by default.
Re – cap: Originally seeded 4th in the 4th division, the Mustangs were moved up to the 3rd division, seeded #15. After losing to the 2nd seeded team in the first round, the boys went on to win the consolations and finished 5th, 10 positions higher than expected! Some of the teams that we finished higher than included Berkshire, Exeter, Westminster, Choate, and Rye.
