Brunswick Boys Bring It
The boys from Brunswick, led by rookie coaching sensation Will Casertano, brought a combination of their A and B teams to Millbrook today for what would be a very competitive and exciting match. All ten Mustangs got a chance to participate.
Evens were up first and it was evident from the start that it was going to be close. Zack T in his new position at #8 exhibition, played an amazing match with huge momentum swings ultimately losing in 5 games while Dylan S at #6 ran out of gas and suffered his first loss of the season by two points in the 5th game. Henry R at #4 played well to extend his match before losing in 4, and Rjay had the match of his season winning dramatically in 5. The match was 2-1 Brunswick at the turn and the home team needed to get three of four odd matches to win. After winning the first two games, Teddy M at #5 dropped the next two and it looked like all was lost, but McLanahan came storming back with spectacular drop shots to win 11-7 in the fifth. Sam R at #7 started well winning his first game but dropped the next three, losing in 4, while newcomer Isaiah M at #3 went the distance losing in 5 close games. Zack H at #1 extended his match to 4 games but couldn't close. Of the top 8 matches, 4 went 5 and 4 went 4; very close indeed! Bud F and Henry S also played well and had close matches at #9 and #10. Final 5-2.
