Mustangs Earn 5-0 Parents Weekend Victory over Cheshire
The Millbrook Varsity Field Hockey team scored four times in the second half to earn a 5-0 win over Cheshire at home on a cold, rainy, and windy Parents Weekend Saturday. The Mustangs came out strong and scored within the opening minutes on a penalty corner, when Emma Gotthelf '19 got the ball at the stroke mark inside the circle and sent it back to the top to a wide-open Ava Quartararo, who fired it into the cage for a 1-0 lead. However, despite many chances in the rest of the opening half, the Mustangs couldn't manage to convert. In the second half, the floodgates opened. Ellie Muckstadt '18 scored a pair (assist by Riley Croghan '18), Emma Oliva '18 scored (assist Muckstadt), and Jackie Crowley '20 had her first goal in a Millbrook uniform (assist Liya Liang '18). Gracie Filler '17 made a couple of saves and earned the complete-game shutout victory. It was an excellent team effort, particularly in the second half, despite the tough weather conditions. The Mustangs will face off against Rye after the long weekend.
