Winter Musical: Lessons in Courage, Love, & the Important Things in Life

With a cast of 20, a stage crew of 5, and a tech crew of 7 students, Violet is well on its way to being ready for our February 17th opening.
The cast is working diligently to meet off-book deadlines, create compelling characters, polish choreography, and master the challenging vocal score.

With music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by Brian Crawley, Violet is set in the mid-60's in the deep south. The story follows the growth and enlightenment of a young woman who bears a horrendous scar on her face from a childhood accident. In hopes that a TV evangelist can heal her, she embarks on a journey by bus from Spruce Pine, North Carolina to Tulsa, Oklahoma. On her journey, she meets several people, including two soldiers, who soon become her friends. In getting to know one another, they learn about beauty, love, courage and what it means to be an outsider. Ultimately, Violet experiences a form of healing that is truly more important than the physical miracle she was searching for.

We hope to see you at one or both of our performances, scheduled for Friday, February 18th and Saturday, February 19th. Both shows begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Chelsea Morrison Theater in the Holbrook Arts Center.
