Cheshire Steals One From Millbrook

Gordie MacKenzie
The Lady Mustangs made the late afternoon trip to Cheshire, CT. to face Class B opponent Cheshire Academy. With kickoff being at 5pm, the two teams would do battle under the lights. Millbrook would get on the board first with a well struck ball by Adelaide Armah '19 midway in the half. Unfortunately the lead was short lived as Cheshire would tie the game up 2 minutes later. The play was physical and the action back and forth. The first half would end with both teams knotted up a goal apiece. Whether it was the cold weather settling in for the night or something else, both teams came out quickly testing each other's backline. As the case was in the first half, the second half was no different as each offensive line challenged and pressured the other's defensive third. Millbrook would conceed 4 corners to Cheshire's 2, and it would be one of Cheshire's corners that would seal the deal. With 4:00 minutes remaining in the game, Cheshire was awarded. With a well struck ball, both teams watched the ball bounce a couple of times in the box before Cheshire's Madeleine Silano knocked the ball into the back of the net. While Millbrook pressed in the closing minutes it just wasn't going to be the Lady Mustang's day. Besides Elise Almgren '20 making 7 saves on 9 shots, the coaches would like to give a big shout-out to Co-Captain Lizzy Chamberlin '19 for her incredible hustle up and down the field - she clearly left everything out on the field today. The team returns to Class C play this Saturday when they host Rye Country Day.
