Mustangs Drop Division Game to St. Lukes

Gordie MacKenzie
On a warm and sunny afternoon, Millbrook played host to Class C rival St. Lukes. St. Lukes entered the game undefeated with Millbrook sporting a 3-0 winning streak.  As tradition would have it, this game would prove to be no different from years past – the game would exhibit talented play by both teams, both teams looked to posses the ball over the other, and both teams would play with a great deal of physical and challenging play.  While time of possession was fairly equal, St. Lukes capitalized on their scoring opportunities more often than Millbrook. Jalia Musah ’21 had the lone goal for Millbrook, and Mustang’s keeper, Elise Almgren ’20, was credited with 10 saves on 15 shots. Besides Millbrook’s backline working hard to keep the ball out of their defensive third, holding midfielders Carolyn Whitting ’19, Callie Kenney ’22 and Talbot Anning ’22 worked tirelessly in the middle third playing both sides of the pitch.  Besides Musah, fifth former Bailey Tymeson ’20 and co-captain Suwaibatu Mohammed ’19 continued to pressure St. Lukes’s defensive unit, but unfortunately St. Lukes’s back four held strong.

Class C play continues this Saturday when the Lady Mustangs make the trip to Middlebury, CT. to take on Westover.
