Play-off time!

After a grueling but successful season, the boys earned the 6th seed in the New England C Division tournament, playing Greens Farms in the quarterfinal game. GFA has been a regular opponent in the post season over the years, always a well-skilled and enthusiastic side. They proved to be so again this year. Wednesday's match was an even, high tempo affair, though not from the opening whistle. Truth be told, the Mustangs took some time to find their legs after the long bus ride. GFA put on considerable pressure in the opening minutes; good luck, spirited defense and a fine save or two by Tuke kept the Dragons off the scoreboard. As the first half unfolded, Millbrook began to turn the tide. It was the GFA keeper's turn to keep the game scoreless.

In the second half, each side had quality chances to score. For our part, the new defensive line-up of Grossman, Day, Madsen and Darmon bent but did not break. Madsen, in particular, played exceptionally to stymie GFA's attempts at a long ball over the top. As regulation ended, Millbrook again seemed to have the upper hand, though we could not find a way past GFA's keeper. Still, we surged into the first overtime period determined to end the match before the penalty kick phase. Less than 3 minutes in, Darmon launched a corner kick which Moir headed on to Bouda, who calmly chested the ball down and hit the side netting for the winner! Seaver, Colman and Rode Viesca played well in the middle, as did Moir, in support of Bouda. What a game!
