Mustangs Dominate Miss Halls

Gordie MacKenzie
The Lady Mustangs played host to Miss Halls on an overcast Wednesday afternoon. Because some starters were out due to injuries, family obligations or a red card, it was a chance for those who had not seen much playing time to step on the pitch and demonstrated what they've been working hard on all season long. While Millbrook had greater depth all around, we still wanted to put some balls into the back of the net early on. The Mustangs would get some early looks, but Hall's keeper came up big with some quick reflect saves.  Millbrook did well to posses and move the ball about the field, yet Hall's defensive group made it very difficult for get the ball behind them.  At the 9:53, Jalia Musah '21 finally was able to break in alone and break the stalemate. The half would end with Millbrook up 1-0.

After a "spirited" half-time talk, the Stangs looked to add to their lead. It would only take 4 minutes before Millbrook struck again - this time it was a corner kick with Gabby Sartori '18 connecting with new comer, Carolyn Whitney '19 who netted her first Millbrook career goal.  Three minutes later, it would be Musah again (assisted by Sartori); the duo would combo again 6 minutes later.  With the lead in hand, Millbrook found themselves ontop of Hall's keeper, with Bailey Tymeson '20 serving some beautiful crosses into the box. The girls would continue to have a number of great looks but either a save was made by Hall's keeper, her goal posts or the girls would just miss, and as a result were unable to add to the tally. The final horn would sound with Elise Almgren '20 collecting her 4th career shoutout.

Next up, Class B power, Kingswood Oxford.
