Mustangs of the Week - September 25, 2017

Boys Cross Country, Kazuki Unayama '18
Kazuki finished in first place at the Canterbury Invitational this past weekend, winning the Division II race. Kazuki gave a strong final kick for a definitive win, with a time of 17:23.

Girls Cross Country, Ella Horn '18
Ella worked hard in our tough workouts this week, and she overcame the heat on Saturday to run a great race at the Canterbury Invitational, finishing second for Millbrook.

Girls Varsity Soccer, Adelaide Armah '19
The Mustangs faced a very good Suffield Academy squad last week, and without Adelaide’s strong play as one of our central defenders, the final result would have likely been different. Adelaide is not only a fierce competitor, but her creativity and skill level helps the team transition the ball from the defensive third to middle third. She is a very strong asset to our team.

Girls Varsity Field Hockey, Liya Liang '18
Liya stepped up to play goalie this season. The VIth former is really leading by example with her positive attitude, willingness to work hard, and try new things every day in practice. Liya saw her first game as a goalie last Wednesday against Hotchkiss, and has really proven herself as a team player. Well done, Liya!

Boys Junior Varsity Soccer, Z
ach Abdeen '19
Zach has demonstrated significant improvement over the course of two games, and we look forward to seeing him continue to grow throughout the season.

Girls Junior Varsity Soccer, Karolina Rosse '20
Karoina decided to hold herself to a leadership role during the second practice of the season. She has since led by example by encouraging her teammates and coming to help bring equipment down every day before practice, and maintained a positive, can-do attitude. During Friday’s practice, it was clear that Karolina’s knees were in pain but she played through it.

Junior Varsity Volleyball, Simone Yanez '20
In stunning fashion, Millbrook came back from a nine-point deficit in the second game, thanks to some solid serving from Simone, who had runs of 6-plus serves. The fourth game of the match was arguably the best game played in the long history of Millbrook volleyball, and Millbrook cruised to an easy 25-12 victory in the fourth and final game of the match.

Junior Varsity Field Hockey,
Cate Sinclaire '20
Cate earns Mustang of the Week for her hard work and coachability. She has fun, and her sense of humor is contagious. We are happy Cate has decided to try field hockey this year, as she has excellent drive and great game sense.
