Comeback!

Yesterday afternoon, the boys took on the Titans of Wilbraham in what proved to be a cliffhanger. We started slowly and quickly conceded two goals. We regained our composure and established our game before half time, buoyed by Bouda’s first of four goals, on an assist from Darmon. We went out for the second half with renewed enthusiasm. Another quick goal from Bouda was matched almost immediately and it appeared that Wilbraham would maintain their lead. Nevertheless, the Mustangs dug deep, played strong defense and looked for chances to climb back into the contest. A defensive mistake led to Bouda’s next goal, followed by another which tied the score at 4 – a goal mouth scramble poked in by Tardio. The game winner, again from Bouda, was scored with less that 6 minutes to play. What a comeback!

Kudos go to the defensive back four, especially Sosnow, who played tenacious defense in the face of relentless pressure. Oberfeld made several important saves to keep the score close, as did Wilbraham’s keeper who denied Bouda a couple of sure goals. Rode Viesca and Madsen played particularly well on the flanks, both offensively and defensively.
