Zooie of the Week - Emma Gotthelf '19

Emma Gotthelf ‘19 is our Zooie of the Week for her work with the Geoffroy marmosets and the chinchilla who shares their habitat. These animals need close attention, and Emma has been outstanding in her care and consistent attendance.

Emma, who is from West Hartford, CT, refers to the marmosets as “adorable,” and says that while it is a big responsibility to care for the animals, “seeing their cute faces makes it worthwhile.”

“It is amazing how friendly the marmosets are,” says Emma. “They take the food right from my hand at times to eat it, and they are always very gentle.”

Emma has also learned a lot about different animal species from her work at the Trevor Zoo:

“I did not expect to see all of these animals when coming to Millbrook,” she says. “For example, I had never heard of marmosets, but I am so grateful to be learning about them and caring for them now!”

When she is not at the Trevor Zoo, you can find Emma on the field or the ice, as she plays varsity hockey and field hockey. She brings the same positive attitude that she brings to the zoo to both of her athletic teams, and we are excited to continue following her success across all of her passions at Millbrook. Well done, Emma!
