Dalton Defeated Dramatically

Saturday broke with a broken toilet and Dalton in our sights. On two courts, and in every match, the two teams face off with #7 and #2 going first, then #1 and #6, then #3 and #5, and finally #4. Rjay almost won the first 11-13, but went on to a 3-0 defeat while Sam fared much better, winning his match easily in 3. At one all, the teams looked to Hollander and Dylan. Zack new things were going to be tough, playing against the #1 ranked junior in the 17s, and ended up losing 3-0 but played terrific squash in every way. Dylan’s opponent was one of a handful of girls who played in the boy’s division. With well placed power drives and delicate drops , Dylan made quick work of her, winning 3-0.  The see saw next swung back again with Teddy winning his match easily in 3 and Isaiah losing his in 3.
Now at 3 all, the last and final match was Henry’s to determine whether the team went on in the tourney. The bottom of the line- up, from 5 to 7, had carried the day so far, while our top 3 players had all lost. The pressure mounted as we all poured into the stands for Henry’s deciding match. Crunch time.
Henry played his best squash of the year in dominating the first two games 3 and 2. The 3rd game saw a swing in momentum and Dalton was back in the match winning at 6. Cheering wildy in the stands, the Dalton fans could be heard across campus as they sang fight songs and screamed their support. Henry was unnerved and distracted then started to slip in the 4th. It looked as though this was going to be the end of the line for the Mustangs but Henry found some inner strength. He stormed back in the 4th winning by 5 points to give his team the match 4-3, and a place in the semis on Sunday vs Brunswick.
