Back in December, Millbrook and GA had their first meeting of the season. The Gators took down Millbrook 4-1 in a game that showed Millbrook, there is no room to take a shift off. Gearing up for the second meeting, Millbrook focused on their game and ways to improve from the last time the two teams met. Right from the start of the game, the refs were calling a tight game, making both teams work a bit harder. With 6 minutes left in the first period, Taylor Ham`17 from the slot found the back of the net off of assists from Emma Gotthelf `19 and Bailey Tymeson`20. The second period was one of the best starts the Mustangs have had going into the second. The team worked as a whole towards the same goal. With 7:29 left in the second period, Ellie Muckstadt`18 rushed the puck down ice on the power play. Muckstadt shot the puck from outside with Kerry Carr`18 crashing the net hard. Carr hit the rebound through the five-hole making it 2-0. GA was continued to pressure Millbrook. With one minute left in the second period, while Millbrook was killing a penalty, GA got on the board. The third period, continued the high intensity back and forth game. GA would even it up with 10:36 left. No one was able to break the time in regulation play. So the game headed into overtime. Shortly into OT GA went on a breakaway and Katie Bishop-Manning`17 made an incredible save keeping it 2-2. With 2:35 left in OT Bailey Tymeson`20 hit Taylor Ham`17 up the middle and Ham continued on a breakaway sealing the game with a beautiful finish! Millbrook earned the win through effort, attitude, and full team play. Kudos to Sarah Hoover`20, Cate Sinclair `20 and Dora Harag`20 for their energy and for being amazing teammates.
