Strong Turnout for August Alumni Receptions

Alumni, students, parents, and faculty gathered for our recent Alumni Receptions on Martha’s Vineyard and Fishers Island for good conversation, reuniting, and an update on Millbrook School.

The receptions, which were held on August 4, and August 11, were set to beautiful summer backdrops. Paul Simons and Karen Simons, who are the parents of Harry Simons ’17 and Will Simons ’19, graciously hosted the event on Martha’s Vineyard with over 25 attendees. Harry and Will ably assisted their parents in preparing for the event, and also took photos throughout, which will soon be posted to our website.

The Millbrook community has a long history of gathering on Martha’s Vineyard, as Millbrook’s founding Headmaster Edward Pulling owned a home on West Chop, and hosted events there throughout his lifetime.

Peter and Susan Chapman hosted the reception on Fishers Island on August 4. Mr. and Mrs. Chapman, who are the parents of Molly Chapman '11 and Eliza Chapman '12, welcomed over 45 guests for mingling, cocktails, and conversation about Millbrook School.

Headmaster Drew Casertano addressed attendees at each reception, and discussed Millbrook’s thoughtful growth, momentum, and goals. He noted that the 2015-2016 academic year was remarkable in so many ways, and the summer has been busier than ever. With the new dining hall complete, focus has shifted to other improvements, including renovations of The Mill, increasing seating in the Flagler Memorial Chapel, and improving campus lighting, among many other projects.

We thank the Simons and Chapman’s for welcoming everyone into their homes for these events. Everyone had a wonderful time, and we are excited for our continued momentum throughout 2016-2017.

Stay tuned for photographs from the events, which will be posted to our online photo gallery.
