Millbrook School proudly offers a positive work environment. Along with a welcoming culture, Millbrook offers a generous benefits package for full-time employees and their families to support their health and financial well-being. We review our benefits program annually to ensure we offer the best products possible. Benefits include health, vision, dental, and life insurance; a robust retirement plan; and a substantial amount of paid time off. Many employees work on a 12-month schedule, whereas most faculty positions are based on an academic year.
Millbrook School’s faculty consists of around 80 members, most of whom live on campus. Our faculty is diverse in life experience, age, and race/ethnicity. We seek educators who have high energy, passion for the life of the mind, patience, flexibility, a sense of humor, and empathy and optimism toward the issues that our young people face.
A full-time faculty member at Millbrook School embodies the boarding school “triple threat” model as a teacher, coach, and dorm parent. Each role requires energy and commitment to the unique life in a boarding school community. The following outlines most, but not all, of the job a Millbrook School teacher is expected to do:
Teaching: A full-time faculty member teaches four sections per term as assigned by the department head and Dean of Faculty. The average class size is 13 students. Teaching faculty participate in weekly department meetings, collaborate with teachers in and outside their department, and have a voice in curriculum decisions. Also, faculty members serve as academic advisors to 1–6 students per year and supervise a community service.
Coaching: Each full-time faculty member is expected to participate in the physical development program during two of the three terms at Millbrook. Most fulfill this responsibility by coaching or assisting interscholastic sports; some supervise recreational sports or “zoo squad,” and some direct drama groups.
Residential Life Duties: Many faculty members live in dormitory apartments and supervise boarding students on weeknights and weekends. Each dorm is staffed with at least two resident faculty members, as well as one or two affiliates, who together participate in a supervisory rotation. Others participate in residential life through supervising evening programs.
Reporting to the head of school, the director of enrollment management sets the strategic direction for the admission, enrollment, and retention of a dynamic student body. As part of the school’s recruitment and enrollment of students, the director oversees the administration of the admission and financial aid budgets; admission processes and records; admission events, travel, and constituent volunteer efforts; and all recruitment, enrollment, and matriculation initiatives. The successful candidate will be a demonstrated enrollment leader, possessing the ability to inspire and lead others, a facility with data-informed strategic planning, and a passion for engagement in all aspects of boarding school life.
Millbrook School is seeking a head coach on the varsity level for our boys squash program for winter 2025-2026. Athletic spaces, across all levels, are considered classrooms and are an integral part of Millbrook’s mission. All teams within the Millbrook athletic department teach character development, integrity, physical fitness, sportsmanship, competitive drive, and teamwork while amplifying school spirit.
The Trevor-Lovejoy Zoo at Millbrook School is the only USDA- and AZA-accredited zoological facility in the United States located at and owned by an independent boarding high school. Education is deeply rooted in the Trevor-Lovejoy Zoo's history and mission. The mission of the Trevor-Lovejoy Zoo reads: The Trevor-Lovejoy Zoo inspires all to live responsibly by educating its students and visitors about conservation, wildlife, and the natural world.
