News12 Features Trevor-Lovejoy Zoo

Aaron Case
As the only AZA-accredited zoo on a high school campus in the U.S., the Trevor-Lovejoy Zoo is regularly highlighted on TV broadcasts, both local and national. Last week, News12 stopped in to do a “Road Trip: Close to Home” feature on the zoo, which aired today.

The feature spotlighted many of the 170+ indigenous and exotic animals that live at the zoo, including the red pandas, marmosets, and lemurs.

The broadcast also features commentary by Trevor-Lovejoy Zoo Director Dr. Alan Tousignant, Deputy Director Jessica Bennett, and visitors. News12 did a similar feature on the zoo back in 2022, which can be viewed here.

The zoo has changed a lot since then, changing its name to honor late Millbrook alum Dr. Thomas Lovejoy '59 and welcoming new animals, including binturongs and a Canada lynx. Additionally, the zoo is in the early stages of a major expansion plan. A new holding barn is already complete, with an animal wellness facility and expanded exhibits to follow. All of the planned changes will help the zoo better accomplish its mission of promoting environmental conservation to visitors and providing Millbrook students with unparalleled service opportunities.
