Protest in Washington, DC
Here we see a woman overcome with emotion, crying and holding a candle with her head tilted toward the ground. Surrounding her are others who follow suit. While the BLM movement and the protests that have followed have been empowering to the African American community, we must not forget that it is a movement born from grief. Only in the presence of unity has it provided a voice to the voiceless.
