Literary Showcase

The Literary Showcase has fast become a Millbrook institution and a unique venue for student authors to share stories, poems, and other written work. English Department Chair Lewis Feuer co-founded the event six years ago and encouraged prospective readers to seek feedback before their public presentation. “We have a lot of writers and poets on campus,” said Mr. Feuer, “and the showcase is the perfect way for emerging writers to get a sense of other voices on campus.”

The Literary Showcase soon became aligned with The Mill, the student-published literary magazine of Millbrook School. Will Zelevansky ’23 is the lead editor of The Mill, and as the showcase coordinator and frequent emcee, he has witnessed an uptick in attendance and interest. Ophelia Champon ’25, Kelly Kwok ’25, and Adelaide Wise ’25 are involved and poised to grow Millbrook literary culture. The monthly event kicks off with featured readers followed by an open mic segment and includes pizza and snacks for attendees.

“I’ve been super excited to see the event become increasingly popular,” said Mr. Feuer, “A central goal of my work with students producing The Mill is to create a community of writers on campus, and the Literary Showcases are where that community meets.”
