Major Momentum for Girls Varsity Hockey

Girls varsity hockey is a perennially strong program at Millbrook, and with a 16-7 record going into the home stretch, Coach Erica Shapey’s squad has plenty of momentum. The only senior on the ice, goalie Morgan Ainley's steady presence between the pipes has inspired and encouraged younger players to take ownership. “Having such a young team has allowed for other players to step up as leaders both on and off the ice,” said Coach Shapey.

The girls got off to a pretty fast start though the season has also had a few challenging stretches. “This unit is energetic, positive, and cohesive,” said Coach Shapey, “and these characteristics have laid the groundwork for our success.” Though there are some tough matchups on the horizon, Coach Shapey is a believer: “This team is one of the most talented I have coached in my prep school career, and we are excited to keep battling for a playoff spot.”

The Mustang girls play together, every line and every shift, and their record is proof. They'll continue to battle together on the road over the next four games before returning home to play their final regular season game on February 25.
