Millbrook's Fall Play Brings Down The House

Millbrook’s stars of stage shone brightly in their three-night performance of The One-Act Play That Goes Wrong at Millbrook's Chelsea Morrison Theater in the Holbrook Arts Center. The show, a farcical play-within-a-play presenting the travails of a hapless community theatre group attempting to put up their own murder mystery, was well-received thanks to strong performances by all.

The 2021 fall play marks the welcome return to an in-person, live performance in the Chelsea Morrison Theater after last year’s triumphant Grease tent show in the spring and a filmed version of The Crucible last fall.

Directed by Elaine Lifter, The One Act Play That Goes Wrong, made good use of the comedic chops of an ensemble cast tasked with putting across the humor in miscues, dropped lines, set and scenery failures, and absurd, over-the-top performances. As part of an arts field trip, the cast and crew were fortunate to attend a Broadway performance of the full version of The Play That Goes Wrong, after which they participated in a post-show Q&A with the cast and crew. No doubt this experience was both informative and inspirational as Millbrook’s fall play was absolutely one to remember!
