Mustangs Show Improvement But Drop Game to GCDS

Lindsay Peterson
The Millbrook Mustangs travelled to Greenwich Country Day School for the midweek match. It was the first time Millbrook and GCDS faced each other in GVS.

Millbrook got off to a strong start, implementing many of the strategies we focused on in practice this week. The first half ended with a 1-0 GCDS lead after a rebounded shot bounced off multiple players before finding the back of the net. Millbrook came out strong in the second half as well, with a few close shots and scoring opportunities. Unfortunately the Mustangs could not net one. In the second half, GCDS was able to find the back of the net on a corner and a breakaway to end with a 3-0 win.

Shout outs to Callie Kenney for gritty defense and going hard for the ball and Natalia Danyluk for making some great runs and recoveries. Kate Craig had another good game in goal, making 15 saves with half a dozen being point blank.

The Mustangs continue to be road warriors when they take on St. Luke’s this weekend.
