New Diamond Shines Brightly

At long last, the Millbrook Mustangs played a game on their pristine new baseball diamond. Headmaster-elect and head coach Jon Downs greeted the crowd before the team took the field for the 2021 home opener against Trinity-Pawling. Beloved school nurse Eileen “E.J.” Jeffreys came out of retirement to reiterate her unwavering support for Millbrook Mustang baseball by throwing out the first pitch. Millbrook’s biggest baseball fan then took a seat along the first base line and settled in under sunny blue skies.

Though the ground-up renovation included new dugouts, backstop, infield, and other surfaces was completed in time for the spring 2020 campaign, the team waited until April 2021 to take the field. The grass is lush and vibrant thanks to a cool and sunny spring and the brick backstop is classic and tasteful. No longer just a field of dreams, the new diamond is a home where Millbrook’s baseball tradition can live on.
