A Different Look for Fall Sports

Millbrook Mustang athletics have a different look this fall as students safely train and prepare, hopefully, for interscholastic competition. In order to make the most of their time during this unique fall season, athletes can simultaneously train for a fall sport and a winter sport. Fall sports, with practices held Monday through Thursday, are designated as “Blue,” and winter sports, practicing on Fridays and Saturdays, are “Gray.”

The athletic department closely follows New York State guidelines that prohibited official team practices during the opening week of school. Rather, athletes were working out and participating in team-building activities. Other non-practice activities have included hikes, runs, and strength and conditioning routines intended to build and maintain team unity while maintaining Millbrook’s bubble of safety from Covid-19.

Following state guidelines, team practices commenced this week and outdoor spaces from the upper fields to Ohio have been busy with soccer, field hockey, football, and cross-country. Currently serving as an on-campus hub for day students, the Mills Athletic Center has been closed to others but may reopen in the near future for scheduled weight room sessions followed by the eventual opening of the Bontecou Rink.

Though the future of interscholastic competition is unknown for now, when sports resume, Mustang squads will be ready!
