Millbrook notches another win on the road

Coach Powers
We took the long trip up to Albany to play their Varsity team and came away with a solid 5-2 win.  As Albany only has two courts, we got to watch and cheer for each other quite a bit.  I love the way that the girls suport each other, and we really needed it as most of the matches pitted evenly talented players.

Lilly Gooding dropped the first game but then found her groove, edged out the second game 13-11, then cruised to two more easy wins.  Captain Natalie Whitman started strong and won the first two games.  After dropping the third, she regrouped, and as a true leader does, closed the door in the fourth game to secure the win.  Similarly, Tracy He dropped the second game but came roaring back to finish the match in four games.  Caroline Hopkins displayed a fine all court game, hitting drops and deep shots to win in three straight games.  Precious Esielem, playing up 4 spots, rose to the occassion and won in three tough games, finally securing the win 16-14 in the 3rd!  Captain Paras Musallam faced a tough oppoent at #1.  Despite hitting a plethora of winners, and every game being close, she lost in three games.  Nina Hoffman won the second game of her match, but fell in 4.  The match of the day was at #7 where Ella Green found herself down 1-2.  Ella, a vet from last year, dug really deep to pull out the final two games.  She made great adjustments and kept her opponent guessing.

We celebrated with some Chipotle and Panera afterwards.  The sense of team these girls are creating is a pleasure to see, as is their consistent progress.
