Girls Varsity Hockey Defeats Gunnery

"Our game today against Gunnery was a true test of grit and focus," said Head Girls Varsity Hockey Coach Erica Shapey.

Bailey Tymeson '20 opened up the scoring by capitalizing on an error by Gunnery deep in the offensive zone. This led to a breakaway attempt that Bailey buried in the back of the net. Although Gunnery tied it up in the third, Nikki Bessinger '21 put the Mustangs back on top by putting the puck directly over the goalie’s shoulder and into the net. Brysha Schmidt '22 solidified the win with an empty-net goal from the Mustang defensive zone.

"I am extremely proud," said Coach Shapey. "The Mustangs brought grit despite having the game location changed last-minute. I'm looking forward to continuing to work with the team in getting better each day and to using the momentum from this win to push us forward."

The Mustangs will compete against Greenwich Academy at home this Saturday, December 14, at 4:00 p.m. Visit our website for schedules, photos, and game highlights for all of our teams.
