Millbrook School vs. Taft School 12/4/19

C. Coffman
The girls took on Taft on the road. From the drop of the puck it was clear it was going to be a fast paced game with the starting lines displaying tenacity and poise. Millbrook gave up an early goal when Taft stuffed a breakout attempt at the blue line. The puck squirted free to the high slot and Taft made no mistake putting it away traveling from left to right across the circles and putting it to the back post to score on their first shot. This was a somewhat deflating goal for Millbrook as they weren't able to generate much offense for the rest of the period. The second and third periods were close checking with minimal mistakes being made on either side and a modest amount of scoring chances. Notably, both teams had loan breakaways: Taft in the second, Millbrook in the third coming on a penalty kill. Both goalies were able to shut down to keep the game 1-0. With about 10 minutes left in the game, Millbrook starting playing a more wide open game and Taft was up to the task. Both teams started trading more scoring chances with a couple of loose puck scrums on both ends. Millbrook pulled the goalie with 1:30 left on the clock and was able to generate sustained offensive zone time and a couple scoring chances, but not managing to find the back of the net. Taft converted on a full ice empty net for a final score of 2-0 Taft. Goalies for both teams were spectacular combining for one goal against and many highlight reel saves.
