Boys Varsity Tennis Wins New England Class C Championship!

After eliminating Watkinson and Wooster in the quarters and semi-finals, the boys varsity tennis team traveled to Choate on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 22, to compete in the finals of the New England Class C Championships against Beaver Country Day.

Doubles took the courts first with Colin Tardio '19 and Sam Seaver '19 at #1, Bud Fisher '20 and Dan Feigelson '21 at #2, and Will Simons '19 and Drew Deery '21 at #3. The #1s fought hard but dropped their match 8-2, while the #2s played exceptionally well and came away with the victory 8-5. The #3s went all the way to a tiebreaker after being down 4-0 but unfortunately lost by two points, giving the single doubles point to Beaver. Alex Kaye '20 and Nick Sosnow '21 played solid tennis at #4 exhibition and won their match 8-5.

Singles took the courts next, and as the match progressed, it became evident that it was going to be close. Colin at #1 was up against a terrific player from Beaver who rarely missed and came off first in a losing effort. With only one point remaining to win the tournament, it all came down to Dan Feigelson '21 at #2, and he did not disappoint. After dominating his opponent in the first set 6-2, he maintained his composure in the second to win 6-4, completing the remarkable comeback win for his team 4-3.

"The boys jumped the fence and rushed the court to celebrate together the end to a magical season," said Head Boys Tennis Coach Greg Reiss. "I could not be more proud."

Congratulations to the Mustangs on winning the New England Championships! GO MUSTANGS!
