Students Enjoy International Eats at World Culture Festival
Millbrook's annual World Culture Festival took place on Sunday, April 14th. Over 14 countries were represented at the event, including Cambodia, Canada, Ghana, Chile, China, Greece, Guatemala, El Salvador, Italy, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia, Spain, and Vietnam.
"Our International Student Ambassadors did a great job helping to organize this event, and we were thrilled with the community turnout and variety of delicious dishes," says Co-International Student Coordinator Eleni Stefanopoulos '92.
To prepare for the festival, students chose favorite foods from home and researched their respective recipes, often getting in touch with family members to collect this information. They traveled collectively to local grocery stores to gather the necessary ingredients and coordinated with faculty to use their kitchens for preparing the dishes.
This is a much anticipated annual event that brings the community together through food. "It's outdoors, and we get to enjoy cultural music and delicious food. It's really a fun event," says International Student Ambassador Pam Nguyen '20.
“Millbrook School is very wealthy in its diversity of students,” says Mrs. Stefanopoulos '92. “Events like the World Culture Festival allow the Millbrook community to become more aware of the cultural diversity that exists on campus, and I hope it encourages us all to embrace the uniqueness that each member of the school brings."
