Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The Millbrook community gathered in the Chelsea Morrison Theater on Thursday, January 24th, to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

"I took a different approach to the service honoring Dr. King this year," said Reverend Cam Hardy. "The purpose of this gathering is always to honor Dr. King's work and service, however, I also felt that our students could benefit by learning more about who he was as a person, rather than just learning about what he is best known for today."

To achieve this goal, Reverend Hardy invited faculty and staff to share stories about both who Dr. King was and who he is to them. She also invited the entire community to contribute their writings and/or suggestions for readings. "I chose film clips from documentaries, too," said Reverend Hardy. Students and faculty also shared music and reflections that came out of discussions in their classes.

The event was informative, moving, and truly a community effort. Visit our online photo gallery for images of the special service.
