Ring the Bell: Two Wins for Girls Varsity Soccer

Girls varsity soccer earned two definitive wins last week, defeating Gunnery with a final score of 9-1 on Wednesday, and then shutting out Miss Hall's with a final score of 7-0 on Saturday.

The Mustangs brought a strong offensive to the field right from the start of their game against Gunnery, notching six goals in just 20 minutes. Millbrook had multiple scorers contribute to the resulting win, including Jalia Musah '21 (4G), Suwaibatu Mohammed '19 (2G, 1A), Callie Kenney '22 (1G), and Helen Apollon '19 (1G).

"As they did with their game against Gunnery, Millbrook looked to strike early against Miss Hall's and keep the ball in front of them," said Head Girls Varsity Soccer Coach Gordie MacKenzie '79.

It took the Mustangs just 4 minutes
to notch their first two goals, which were netted by Jalia Musah '21 and followed shortly thereafter with two from Suwaibatu Mohammed '19. Helen Apollon '19, Adelaide Armah '19, and Suwaibatu Mohammed '19 put four more goals in the back of the net, bringing the score to 7-0 at the half. Working hard in the midfield were Amber Hatfield '21, Molly Reid '21 and Daina Velez '21, while Elise Almgren '20 and Brysha Schmidt '22 split duty in goal for the Mustang totaling 4 saves amongst them.

Girls varsity soccer will go on to compete against Kent this Wednesday, October 3rd.
