Ousseni Bouda '19 Named Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year

It was announced on June 6th that Ousseni Bouda '19 is the Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year. The award distinguishes Bouda '19 as the best high school boys soccer player in the nation, recognizing outstanding athletic excellence, academic achievement, and exemplary character on and off the field.

A national advisory panel, comprised of sport-specific experts and sports journalists, helped select Bouda from nearly 432,000 high school boys soccer players nationwide, and The Gatorade Company surprised Bouda '19 when making the announcement and presenting him with the award at the annual Right to Dream benefit in New York City on June 6th.

Bouda '19 scored 49 goals and passed for 4 assists during the 2017 season, tallying 80 percent of Mustang scores and leading the team to the New England Prep School Athletic Council Class C finals. A two-time prep school All-Star, Bouda '19 owns Millbrook's career scoring record for goals scored (92).

"Ousseni is an exceptional student-athlete who has earned recognition as the nation's best high school boys soccer player while also excelling in the classroom and making a difference in his native Burkina Faso," said Gatorade Senior Vice President and General Manager Brett O'Brien.

Winning this award makes Bouda '19 a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade Male High School Athlete of the Year award, which will be presented at a special ceremony prior to The ESPY Awards in July. Bouda '19 has also be granted $1,000 to donate to a local or national youth sports organization of his choosing.

"This is an extraordinary honor for Ousseni and for all who support him," said Headmaster Drew Casertano.

Congratulations, Ousseni!
