U.S. Marine Sgt. Cole Helps Millbrook Students Develop Authentic Characters for Upcoming Musical

Millbrook welcomed U.S. Marine Sergeant Zach Cole to campus on Friday, January 5, to discuss his experience in the Marines, as well as to train the cast of Millbrook's upcoming winter musical, Dogfight, on proper Marine stance, salute, and formation.

Dogfight, by Pasek and Paul (EdgesDear Evan HansenJames and the Giant PeachA Christmas Story) and Peter Duchan, was praised by critics, nominated for multiple awards, and won the Lucille Lortel Award for Best Musical.

"Based on the 1991 Warner Brothers film, Dogfight takes audiences on a romantic and heartbreaking theatrical journey that stays with you long after the performance," said Director of Theater Elaine Lifter.

A cast of 21 students and a crew of 10 have been rehearsing since their return from winter recess, and are deep into choreography, vocal, and blocking rehearsing. "Our visit from Sergeant Cole rounded out our exploration of the time period of the musical, which is the 1960s," said Ms. Lifter. "We are grateful for his time and look forward to welcoming him back when he comes to watch the production!"

Millbrook's production of Dogfight  will debut in the Chelsea Morrison Theater on February 22 at 8:00 p.m., and will run through February 24, 2018.
