Millbrook's varsity eventing program is geared to the dedicated and competitive event rider, and it teaches riders sportsmanship, character development, integrity, and teamwork. The program is broken into three semesters, and varsity riders compete as a Millbrook School team at USEA recognized events. Riders can also compete at jumper/dressage shows and participate in clinics. The season will wrap up for qualified riders at the American Eventing Championships at the end of August.
To be a Millbrook varsity event rider, students must be current USEA members. Prior to Millbrook Eventing team membership, riders must have completed two USEA registered horse trials at novice level or above with no more than 20 cross-country jumping penalties in total. Qualifying horse trials must have been completed within the last two years. Event riders must commit to riding five days per week and to competing at a minimum of two USEA recognized events annually.
Event riders ride at Kildare Stables under the tutelage of Tom and Maddie Duggan as well as approved outside trainers. Kildare Stables can facilitate that boarding of varsity event horses, or, upon availability, lease horses will be available for students.
Riders of other disciplines may qualify at a coach's discretion. Please send USEA number and qualifying scores to firstname.lastname@example.org for consideration.
