Millbrook has had a long history of competitive interscholastic tennis, and while the accomplishments of the past are numerous, the progress and future development of each student-athlete on the varsity and JV teams are the focus of the program today.
With the incredible advantage of 4 indoor and 4 outdoor tennis courts, Millbrook practices can start early in March, often when the snow is still flying! Try outs begin at the end of spring break followed by a rigorous four day practice schedule. The typical training session includes dynamic stretching exercises, light warm up runs and drills, technique and strategy discussions, and ladder challenge matches. Practices usually conclude with a strength and conditioning segment, a cool down, and always some fun and games. A Millbrook tennis player is well prepared for the tough team matches ahead, which are held every Wednesday and Saturday against top league competitors such as Hotchkiss, Berkshire, Salisbury, Kent and more.
Coaches strive to enable each student athlete to be the best they can be, on and off the court. Having respect for your opponent, displaying good sportsmanship at all times, and dedicating yourself to working hard for the best results is always foremost in the minds of our athletes.
