Congratulations to Gavin for being recognized as the zooie of the week!  He is currently caring for the turtles and the iguana.  I asked him about his community service at the zoo.  "I do love taking care of my animals.  The most challenging part of taking care of the turtles and the iguana would be cleaning their pool.  This is very time consuming.

Isabel has been caring for the ferrets, chinchillas and the rabbits.  I asked her about her zoo community service.  "The hardest part of my job is cleaning up after the rabbit, but I am happy to do it.  Although I love them all, the ferrets are my favorite.  They're always jumping and running.  They are so fun to play with, and I am so fortunate to have them!"

Micah has been taking care of the sugar gliders. I asked him about the challenges he faces in his care of the sugar gliders.  He noted, "These are nocturnal mammals, and I try not to wake them up when I feed them.  On the other hand, I like that I can let my animal climb on me, something not many would want to do but I find fun and interesting."

Zooie of the Week - Chase Squier '15 and Andrew Fusco '16 Fusco '16
Zooies of the Week - April 15 - 19
Both Chase Squier '15 and Andrew Fusco '16 have been honored as "Zooie of the Week". They are taking care of the wallabies and emus.  Curators Josh Webb '13 and Dustin Sloan '14 agree that Chase and Andrew do a great job caring for their animals.  Dustin noted, "They always show up on time, thoroughly clean and manage their  exhibition space, and I never need to cover for them."  Josh also added that both zooies are always willing to help others when they can."

Wolf Change Ups – Trevor Zoo update – April 15, 2013

1-Shiloh, dad of our May 2, 2012 red wolf pups, left in January 2013 to be paired with another female for the 2013 breeding season. See the article at the following link http://nywolf.org/home?p=7376
 
2-Trevor Zoo also sent our two male red wolf pups to the Wolf Conservation Center (http://nywolf.org/) for February and March 2013. We just got the two males back, and they have joined the pack again. Currently, there are 7 wolves on exhibit.

Local wildlife conservationists have combined forces with the Trevor Zoo and local businesses around the Hudson Valley to form the KeepSafe Project, an initiative dedicated to raising public awareness of the need to conserve endangered species and their natural habitat as part of maintaining the overall health of our planet.
