Millbrook has had a long history of competitive interscholastic tennis. Recently, we have been invited to the first three Class C New England tournaments and have become a fixture at the top of our class. Through competition, we believe that we can aid the progress and future development of each student athlete on the Varsity and JV teams, as tennis players and as people.
With the incredible advantage of 4 newly resurfaced indoor courts and 4 outdoor hard courts, Millbrook has the advantage of getting court time early in the season, and having few, if any, matches cancelled! Try outs begin at the end of spring break followed by a rigorous four day practice schedule. The typical training session includes dynamic stretching exercises, agility work, technique and strategy discussions and drills, and ladder challenge matches. Practices usually conclude with a strength and conditioning segment, a cool down, and always some fun and games. A Millbrook tennis player is well prepared for the tough team matches ahead, which are held every Wednesday and Saturday. Our schedule is a great mix of similarly sized schools as well as some bigger schools such as Hotchkiss, Convent of the Sacred Heart, and Westminster. Additionally, we have just changed our format to reflect what we play in the New England Class C tournament which allows players to play both singles and doubles, as they are required to do in college.
Coaches strive to enable each student athlete to be the best they can be, on and off the court. Having respect for your opponent, displaying good sportswomanship at all times, and dedicating yourself to working hard for the best results is always foremost in the minds of our athletes.
