Millbrook vs. Hotchkiss

Millbrook matched up with their rivals just down the road: Hotchkiss. Hotckiss broke the ice early with a goal 4 minutes into the first period. Millbrook had a chance to tie it up halfway through the period on a breakaway by Jeannie Wallner, but the Hotchkiss goalie stood up to the test. Just before the end of the first, Millbrook went on the power play. Initially, they had trouble entering the zone, but were able to establish and got a shot off, where Abby Ainley batted home the rebound. Neither side took many penalties. After a scoreless second, we entered the third tied at one. Hotchkiss found themselves in the box twice and managed to kill off both. After a defensive zone faceoff, Tymeson '20 found Nikki Bessinger, who took the puck up the ice. A misstep by a Hotchkiss defender created enough of an opening for Bessinger to drive wide and put it over the Hotchkiss goalies shoulder for what would end up being the game winning goal. Champagne was good for 30 stops on 31 shots showing incredible rebound control and vision through traffic as well as a couple stops on the rush.
