Another nailbiter that didn't go our way

Coach Powers
What a great match!  As always, I am so impressed with how our girls competed; with grace and effort.  And a special thanks to the Kent girls who played a lot of Squash to allow our whole ladder to play today.

There were very competitive matches up and down the ladder. Caitlyn Rodeo showed her great improvement at #8, winning in three quick games. #1 Capt. Paras Musallam fought back from a 2-0 deficit to win the third game against a tough opponent only to fall in four.  Similarly, Co-Capt. Natalie Whitman also won the third game.  Both showed real grit and perseverance.  We also won two four game matches as Clara Bent and Nina Hoffman held on to win after dropping a game.  Unfortunately #2 Lilly Gooding didnt get to finish what was shaping up to be a great match as her opponent had to retire with an injury.  The match, therefore, came down to two five game matches, neither of which went our way.  Caroline Hopkins battled back from 0-1 and 1-2 as she showed her effort and committment to her team.  Tracy He lost the 5th by 2 points!  Couldn't have been closer.

All of our exhibition players ended up play 4 spots above their ladder spots and did quite well.    Also securing wins were Sophie Swift, who came back from a game deficit, and Claire Mensch, who really impressed with her depth today.  Precious Esielem played a great match only to fall 13-11 in the deciding game.  Similarly, Anna Wilson played a very good match, maybe her best of the year, but came up a bit short.  Finally, Skyler Nguyen had some great shots in her exhibtion loss.

We welcome a short break in this long winter season, and look forward to the finsl stretch!
