Millbrook vs. Berkshire

Millbrook played Berkshire for the first time since their pre-season upset, which Berskshire is unlikely to have forgotten. The game set out at an extremely fast pace with both teams posting excellent breakouts and responsible play generating offense from behind the opposition's net off of the forecheck.  Millbrook started generating shots from the point with sustained zone time. With traffic in front, Alexis Strykowski found Nicole Bessinger's stick for a redirection through the pads of the Berkshire goaltender four minutes in to break the ice. Both goalies played strong to finish out the first without any further scoring. A few minutes into the second period, Millbrook struck with a terrific shot from Jeannie Wallner warding off a defense on a looping 1 on 1 attempt. Six minutes into the second, Millbrook found themselves on their first powerplay. Handling the puck cleanly they were able to set up a shot from the point. Again off of Alexis Strykowski's stick this time redirecting off of a Berkshire defense Millbrook was able to score making it 3-0. Berkshire started generating some good opportunities off of the rush after a few missed pinch attempts at Millbrook's blue line including a 3 on 1. Catherine Champagne calmly turned each attempt away with textbook saves preserving the Millbrook lead. The third opened up a bit with both sides showing a bit of their grit when the chippy-ness rose. Millbrook saw four trips to the box including two just before the final buzzer with Berkshire pulling their goalie for a 6 on 3 attempt. Strong work from the Millbrook penalty kill lead by Catherine Champagne assured a final score of 3-1 Millbrook.
