Millbrook vs. Deerfield
The Mustangs lined up against another tough opponent against Deerfield Academy on Wednesday (1/8). Trading opportunities through the first period, neither team was able to break the ice. Both goalies stood tall and turned away great chances, with Millbrook's senior goalie, Catherine Champagne, turning away multiple 2 on 1 opportunities and Deerfield's goalie turning away a great one-time shot from Nicole Bessinger in the low slot. The second period Deerfield came out with a lot of pace and Millbrook had trouble getting it out of their own zone. 3 minutes into the second Deerfield was able to score off of an odd man rush getting the rebound in the low slot. Both teams traded a couple penalties for the remainder of the second. The third period was back and forth again with goalies on both ends making great saves. The last 5 minutes of the game really ramped up in energy with Millbrook making a last effort push to score. They drew a penalty, had a lot of zone time and generate a few high quality scoring chances from very low in the slot, but couldn't find a way to break Deerfield's shutout. The final was 1-0 in favor of Deerfield.
