Suffield Pulls Away in the 4th Quarter to Defeat the Mustangs

Millbrook battled hard for three quarters and came up short to a well-coached, disciplined Suffield Academy team. Suffield started the game with a 7- 0 run catalyzed by a three-pointer and two practical post opportunities. Millbrook responded with a 9-0 run of their own to find themselves up 9-7 at the end of period one. The second quarter was back and forth with Suffield finding themselves up 19-15 at the halftime. The third quarter was the strongest for the Mustangs as they played through adversity to find themselves up 33-30 heading into the 4th quarter. The 4th quarter was a clinic for Suffield as they out-executed the Mustangs to create efficient offensive opportunities combined with hard-nosed defense to seize the lead for good. Suffield made their free throws down the stretch to pull away for a 52 - 35.
  • Lili Westerhuis led the team in plus/minus in her first game as a Mustang with a +4.
  • Evelynn Najork contributed four offensive rebounds (6 total) and excellent post defense despite being matched up against a much taller player.
  • Khya Jenkins played her most effective post defense to date and held their best inside player to 6-24 shooting.
  • Kate Peek and Kimora Jenkins paced the Mustangs defensively with three steals and three deflections each.
