Bouda Blasts Off

It takes a combination of heart, grit, smarts, and raw talent to play for one of the top Division I soccer programs in the country, and Ousseni Bouda '19 has shown he has what it takes to not only play at that level but to dominate. As a freshman on the Stanford men's soccer team, Ousseni is leading the team toward another NCAA Championship, which would be their fourth in five years. At the moment the team is powering through the playoffs, set to play in the semifinals against Georgetown on Friday, December 13th at 6 p.m. EST.

Anyone who has watched Ousseni play can appreciate his confidence on the pitch. He has a rare combination of finesse and power that often leaves defenders and goalies at a loss. As a freshman at Stanford, Ousseni has used those talents to rise to the top, and he leads the team with 15 points this season. Earlier in the season, he was named the PAC-12 Player of the Week (October 15th) and the Top Drawer Soccer Preseason Freshman Best XI. Most recently, Ousseni was named the PAC-12 Freshman of the Year and also selected for the All-Pac-12 First Team, two incredible honors in an extremely competitive conference.

In choosing to attend Stanford, one of Ousseni’s goals was to lead his college team to another championship, much like he did with his high school team at Millbrook. It is clear that Ousseni is using all of his talents to make that dream a reality. We are proud of this former Mustang and his pursuit to be the best and will continue to keep a close eye on his progress as Ousseni and Stanford march their way to the finals.
