The boys travelled to South Kent yesterday for a late afternoon contest on the new turf field there. South Kent was every bit as good as we expected them to be and prevailed in a well-played game, one which was closer than the score might indicate. Millbrook got off to a fast start when, in the tenth minute, Bouda opened the scoring on a beautiful through ball from Mohammed. South Kent countered quickly and the score remained even for the next 25 minutes. Two quick goals in the final ten minutes put South Kent ahead. Still, the Mustangs stormed back in the second half to play superb soccer. We pushed South Kent hard, matched them goal for goal and came away with a respectable, if unsatisfactory, 2-4 result. Bouda scored our second, again from Mohammed. Our midfield, especially Domber and Tardio, worked tirelessly. Simons and Peters came off the bench to contribute well in the back, Stark had a fine game up top and Oberfeld bailed us out time and time again. Colman was awarded the coaches’ card for best player on our side of the ball.
