Our home opener

John Siegenthaler
The boys played their home opener this Saturday against a scrappy and talented Canterbury side. The Saints were determined to bottle up Bouda and managed to keep him off the score sheet for the entire first half. Millbrook pressed hard and the two sides traded great scoring chances but neither managed a goal until the 42nd minute. At that point, Tardio put us ahead when he volleyed in a ball which rebounded off the post to him at the six yard line. Canterbury stormed back after the half to tie the game in the fifty fifth minute. However, the Mustangs reasserted themselves and Bouda could not be held at bay any longer. He scored three goals in seven minutes to put the Mustangs ahead for good. Although each side scored another goal, the outcome had been decided. Cotte and Jones played ably in the midfield. Darmon was awarded the game card for his superb play. Oberfeld turned in yet another strong game in the nets and Simons stepped up when needed, playing well in the back.
