Alumni Weekend 2018

Alumni came to campus the weekend of June 9th to relive Millbrook traditions and create new memories.

The classes of 1968 and 1993, celebrating their 25th and 50th reunions respectively, enjoyed golf, dinner, music and dancing, and terrific company during their three days on campus. The class of 1968 also participated in a variety of special 50th reunion class activities including a tour of the solar field with Dr. Tousignant, an architectural tour of campus with alumnus Phil Ross '68, and a tour of Wethersfield

On the morning of June 10th, all other alumni joined us on campus for festivities, which included master classes with History Chair Mark Clizbe and Arts Chair Sarah MacWright, tours of the Trevor Zoo, and the annual RIck McWilliams soccer game.

The community also gathered in the afternoon to honor Director of Constituent Relations Cindy McWilliams, who is retiring after serving Millbrook for 41 years. Alumni, friends, and family spoke about Cindy's tremendous impact on the school during her extensive tenure. Those who shared sentiments included former Millbrook faculty member Kevin Soja, Assistant to the Headmaster for External Affairs Bob Anthony '65, alumna Zoe Chapin '03, former faculty and board member Anne Putnum '95, and both of Cindy's children, Carly '05 and Trevor '01.

Following these festivities, the traditional alumni parade led the entire community into the Flagler Memorial Chapel, where Bob Anthony '65 presented awards to very deserving recipients:
  • The Edward Pulling Community Service Award: The Very Reverend Arthur V. Bennett III '68
  • Alumni Achievement Award in Fine Arts: Caroline Bozorth Sayan '90
  • Lifetime Alumni Achievement Award in Theater Arts: Theodore S. Chapin '68
  • Millbrook Medal: Gilbert P. Schafer III '80
Alumnus C. Dana White '60, who was unable to attend Alumni Weekend, also received a Millbrook Medal this year and was presented with it on Moving Up Day during an all-campus assembly in May.

Headmaster Drew Casertano delivered the State of the School address to update alumni on the many projects underway and recently completed on campus. This included the successful completion and undeniable success of the Koenigsberger Challenge, the start of renovations to Schoolhouse, and plans to begin construction of the new baseball field over the summer. Visit our Millbrook in Motion page to watch the State of the School address in its entirety.

Director of the Annual Fund Deborah Vanecek also congratulated the winners of the Callard House Cup (greatest number of donors, class of 2003) and the 2018 Headmaster's Challenge decade winners - see the complete list of winners here

After dinner, alumni gathered in the barn to honor retiring Director of Instrumental Music Steve Siktberg. In a coffee house setting there, alumni and faculty joined Steve to sing and perform a variety of tunes before heading to the tent for cocktails and dancing.
