Boys XC Finishes 5th in New Englands
On Saturday, November 11, 2017 the Millbrook Boys and Girls Cross Country teams competed in the New Englands NEPSTA Division III Cross Country Championship. The race took place at Weston High School, outside of Boston, MA, and was hosted by the River's School. Race day was partly-cloudy and unseasonably cold, and the mostly-flat course meandered around the school's campus. Millbrook 6th former Kazuki Unayama led the charge for the Mustangs coming in 3rd overall, and 1st for his team at his final race for Millbrook with a time of 16:45. Coming in behind him were, Mateo Winogrand '19, and Sam Iacavazzi '18, with times of 17:46 and 18:32, respectively. Both Kazuki and Mateo placed in the top 20 runners, with Kazuki placing 3rd and Mateo placing 20th overall (this qualified them both to compete in the NEPSTA All-Star Meet, which was held on Saturday, 11/18/17, and in which Kazuki placed in 13th place and Mateo placed in 21st). David Nesterov-Rappoport '18 and Charlie Weisberg '21, finished within 2 seconds of each other, with David coming in at 19:05 and Charlie finishing at 19:07! Millbrook 6th formers Henry Schulz and Chris Wilkins also had strong performances, with Henry finishing at 20:01, and Chris with a time of 20:20. Overall, the team gave a solid effort and rallied in the face of the cold. The team finished in 5th place overall, for a great finish to the season.
