Exciting Game Ends In Loss

The JV hockey team traveled to the Gunnery for a coed game against the Highlanders.  Five girls from the JV team joined seven Millbrook boys.  Simon Thue stepped up to play goalie and played well.  Liam Piper opened the scoring on a goal assisted by Jack Linnartz.  Linnartz scored his own to bring the score to 2-0 after the first.  Between periods, the Gunnery squad put on a show with a half ice fan shot contest and a tshirt canon.  Linnartz scored his second of the day and Gunnery scored one before Augustus Plagemann scored Millbrook's fourth.  The teams went to the locker rooms with Millbrook up 4-1.  Gunnery opened the thrid period with two goals in 24 seconds.  From that point on, Millbrook was chasing the game.  Gunnery posted two more goals to take the lead with a few minutes left.  Millbrook pulled the goalie with about 2 miutes remaining and though they mounted an offensive surge, they were unable to net a tying goal.  It was an exciting game and the whole team deserves credit for a well-fought tilt.  Special thanks goes out to Kaitlin Bressette, Jenna Bressette, Gabby Sartori, Avery Garhart, and Sophie Swift for joining the team.
